Now that you know the what and why of Making Missions History...then, how?
You and I know it’s not enough just to be passionate.
For vision to have impact, a course of action must be mapped out and executed. One of our organization’s mantras over the past 10 years has been:
Hope is not a plan.
When I was in seminary, I saw a quote on the desk of my Pastor that read:
Vision without action is just a dream;
Action without vision is wasted motion;
But vision with action can change the world.
The ministry the Lord handed us as a gift in 2005 was birthed out of the conviction that it wasn’t enough to only have a vision and passion for God’s mission of reconciling the world to Himself (II Cor 5:19), and, with the psalmist in Psalm 71:18, for...declar(ing) Your power to the next generation...
...we had to put that vision and passion into action.
To provide a platform for this to happen, we joined together Church Planting Missions and Missional Leadership Training into strategic, sustainable, scalable catalytic experiences, that multiply disciples around the world and at home!
You can view our strategy like parallel tracks:
CHURCH PLANTING MISSIONS
Joining in the story - from the church in Antioch, to you, to the ends of the earth
We partner, at their invitation, with church planting leaders around the world to help them multiply churches throughout their countries.
We serve by providing training for pastors and their key leaders, and by bringing well-equipped groups to serve alongside the nationals to saturate communities with the gospel and connect people to the new church being established in their community.
MISSIONAL LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Energizing and equipping leaders: for God’s mission of reconciling all peoples to Himself
Pre-trip – training and practice communicating the gospel message, as well as learning how to engage with people in another culture.
On-Field – students learn the “why” and “what” of God’s global mission, and the role He has called them to play. To make it usable, we also train them “how” with practical leadership skills and a “Live the Mission Action Plan” so they have tools to be a missional leader when they get home.
Post-trip – we provide discipleship resources to continue their missional leadership journey of making disciples as a way of life.
You too can be strategically on mission
We teach what is called the 5 Expressions of Mission - or - 5 Practices of World Christians
GO to the Nations
Immerse yourself cross-culturally
Go on a short-term trip with an organization that partners globally
Volunteer/Work for an organization that partners globally
Live in a country to which God has called you and be on mission
WELCOME those God has placed around you
Reach out to those from unreached nations that have come to you
Befriend, serve, share God’s love and disciple visitors from the nations
Reach out and build relationships with neighbors, international students/professionals, refugees, etc.
GIVE so that many can go to the nations with the gospel
Support those who go
Support and encourage cross-cultural missionaries
By extension, you are a part of what’s going on in another part of the world
Give. Every believer should order their lifestyles in ways that liberate them to give generously and regularly to advance world evangelization.
MOBILIZE by running with the vision and filling the mission pipeline
Empowering others in His purpose
Cast the vision, renew conviction, recruit new laborers and train them to be disciple-makers
See this as a rallying call, as equipping people who already have the seed planted
PRAY and co-work with God
Empowering others in His purpose
The best praying is never by accident. World Christian conviction dies without intentional, well-informed praying. Coordinate your life with others to pray regularly for world evangelization.
